METODE ADAPTIVE REUSE PADA ALIH FUNGSI BANGUNAN RESIDENSIAL MENJADI KOMERSIAL
Abstract
In an environmental context, adaptive reuse is a design method involving the architectural strategy of adapting old buildings for new uses, while ensuring environmental and economic sustainability. This study explores the adaptive reuse of a residential building (a house) for use as a commercial building (an architect's studi)o. A descriptive qualitative method is used to examine the principles of adaptation, intervention and transformation in architectural terms. The results of the study of the adaptive reuse design method show that commercial functions can utilise residential buildings by adapting abandoded building, including those relating to the structure and façade elements, as well as intervening in the spatial layout and interior elements, and transforming them to meet new needs. Using the adaptive reuse method to convert residential buildings for commercial use allows for environmental sustainability through the utilisation of old buildings, reduction of construction waste and preservation of materials and structures, while also increasing economic value without sacrificing ecological aspects.
